Field Notes I
Life is often so fast-paced that we fly through our days, weeks, months and even years without a moment to pause or take a breath. Flowers remind us to live in the moment; they are temporary. By embracing them in our everyday lives we get to enjoy the beauty of their transience.
And by collecting them into an herbarium, they will last forever, reminding us of the beauty of our days.
Field Notes II
Whispering leaves
Whispering leaves
Leaves, swirling leaves, countless leaves, …
whispering a tale of seasons, growth, nurturing and letting go.
One last dance before falling asleep on a carpet of moss.
An endless circle of growth, death and life.
Time after time.
A modern herbarium
These handmade golden frames with a unique page from an antique photo album are a modern interpretation of the old herbaria.
These unique frames display the little details of mushrooms, leaves and flowers.
The amazing diversity and details of nature are ready to be revealed and discovered in this modern herbaria!
Floral Tales
These cardboard boxes are filled with botanical illustrations and their corresponding porcelain flower parts.
It's a three-dimensional study of the botanical flower world where every little detail can be observed.
The following collection of antique metal boxes are a kind of miniature version of the classical Wunderkammer; a collection of porcelain pieces and real dried plants are combined around a botanical theme and displayed in an aesthetic way.
Stories of moss and mushrooms
Forest Treasures
This box is an invitation to discover the small wonders and details to be found in the forest.
The woods are the lungs of our earth and are a wonderful but fragile ecosystem.
By creating these ‘Forest treasures’, I want to focus on the beauty and diversity of the forest but also encourage you to take care of it.
Old herbaria, the historical Wunderkammer, botanical illustrations, antique garden pictures, dried flowers and plants, … they all serve as a source of inspiration for my porcelain creations.
The typical Wunderkammer is often filled with a collection of rare and exotic species, collected from faraway countries, flora as well as fauna and unique items.
My work relates to the natural world and more specific to the ordinary and common plants.
They can be discovered in these ‘Field Notes'. Inspired by the natural wonders I notice on my walks.
Field Notes
Wild Beauty
I want to arouse wonder for the beauty of the wild plants that surround us. Plants that can be found in ordinary places, like wildflowers.
Due to the climate change some of them are already endangered and might soon become rare species.
So by making them in fired porcelain I want to last them for future generations.
Fairytale Flowers
Flowers are certainly powerful, magical things.
Their language, their appearance, their ability to evoke emotions is truly that of fairytales.
Winter Tales
Winter is this season when the bare landscape is covered with a blanket of snow. When the world becomes dormant and silent. Still there's growth deep into the earth where snowdrops and other bulbs prepare for spring to come.
This exclusive box is an ode to the beauty of the winter and to the delicate stories it silently tells.
