October fairytale
After a bad night rest I woke up on this sunny but cold October morning. To get my head clear and awake, I wrapped myself in a warm coat and scarf, took my camera and went for a stroll.
There was definitely the first crispy chill in the air and I loved the cold freshness. The silvery sunlight made everything look enchanting. Cobwebs were everywhere and looked like intricate artworks. In autumn, spiders are more visible because they are grown up by now and are busy laying eggs. The dew on the spider’s webs makes them more noticeable than during other seasons.
As I continued my walk, I saw many different kind of mushrooms, often hidden under the leaves and growing on rotten wood. Unfortunately I don’t know much about the fungi world although I really love making them in porcelain. But when I see these small miracles which appear overnight, I’m always amazed by their shapes and fragility. Sometimes one really have to get on the knees to take a closer look at these tiny wonders!
On these first October days summer and autumn meet. There are whirling leaves and warm sunlight. Shorter days and abundant colors. Autumn shows nature is slowly changing, it’s preparing itself for winter. It will adapt to the cold and go into rest. But first it treats us with so much beauty!
As I continued my walk I suddenly was lost in a fairylike wonderland. Even though I regularly walk here in the nature reserve, it’s always different and it always surprises me with natural and seasonal beauty. All my senses awaken. It is such a great way to start they day!
On Waking
I give thanks for arriving
safely in a new dawn,
For the gift of eyes
to see the world
The gift of mind
To feel at home
In my life,
The waves of possibility
breaking on the shore of dawn,
The harvest of the past
that waits my hunger,
And all the furtherings
This new day will bring.

Every time I notice little details which reflect the changing of the seasons. They might look insignificant and small to others but they always fill me with wonder and gratitude. Walking in this field this morning felt like I was transported to an imaginary and dreamy world. The soft sunlight enlightened the field with a silver glow. The dew drops were like strings of silver and shiny pearls. Valuable treasures are found in the overlooked details that we so often take for granted but they are definitely glimpses of the eternal.
