Summer sunset in June
June.. the month of summer! At least that's how it should feel but the weather has been quite cold and wet this month in Belgium. So let's hope the warm weather, long languid days and this sense of space stretching ahead will come soon!
In between the rainy days I've enjoyed some evenings outside while watching a glorious sunset in our garden. And it makes all the difference! It changes the garden into a magical place where one would like to stay forever. The warm golden glow, the lingering fragrance of roses and honeysuckle, bare feet sprinkled with evening dew, and the world slowly calming down.
For me, the mornings and evenings in the garden are the best moments as they are such a rich treat for my senses. I'll gladly take some time to sink into the moment and look around to enjoy the summer's medley.
To celebrate the beginning of summer this week I'd like to share a beautiful poem which really speaks to me… and hopefully you can relate to it too!
‘In wild, neglected
corners of your heart
there is a medicine garden
where summer weeds
grow high as trees
and where, if you
lay down a while
among the foxgloves
and the ferns, each flower,
each emerald leaf,
each soft-winged creature
and fleck of summer rain
will offer up its own deep song;
a light to call you home.'
Caroline Mellor
‘In your garden you can walk
and with each plant and flower talk;
view all their glories, from each one
raise some rare meditation.'
John Rea, 1665
I wish you a beautiful and inspiring summer season and may you find slow moments to enjoy the summer sunsets!
