New work

Finally… a little update of my newest creations. These past months I've been working on 2 big projects alongside the preparations of new work for the ceramic markets.

The first is the group exhibition ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ which opened on the 23rd of May in Keramion, Frechen, Germany. I'll soon share more about my works that are exhibited there.

The second and biggest project is my solo exhibition this summer in Oldenburg. It's so wonderful to create a complete and personal botanical universe for the beautiful Marmorsaal in Oldenburg Castle. Still a lot of work to be done but I'm really glad with this opportunity! More about this in a future blogpost…

New flowers in glass test tubes in different sizes.

Some new copper boxes with new creations.

I've also created a lot of new glass domes, from smal to big. Every piece has a specific botanical theme and with it comes a diverse landscape of porcelain detailed flowers and plants.

The first piece is a withered flower, referring to the endless cycle of nature where birth and death both take their place. There's beauty to be found in every stage of life, in the natural world as well as in our own lives.

‘Withering'

During winter I'm always dreaming of spring and there's this deep longing for the first green leaves and blossoms. The first snowdrops pushing their fragile flower head through the frozen soil, the impressive sight of an old magnolia in full bloom, … Isn't it wonderful how every season surprises us again, year after year?!

‘Awakening Spring'

Once spring is gone, early summer is around the corner and treats us with warm days, the scent of mown grass and blooming meadows with colourful wildflowers such as red poppies, heavenly blue cornflowers, bright yellow buttercups.

‘Wildflower meadow'

At the end of summer, the garden is slowly withering and flowers become seedpods. One can now ravel in the beauty and diversity of dried natural shapes. Or listen to a summer's melody of fluttering butterflies, buzzing bees, rustling leaves and dancing seeds in the poppy heads.

‘A summer's melody'

There are also some smaller works like these little glass domes with violets, mushrooms and a little mossy landscape.

If you would be interested in one of these new pieces, I'll have them with me at the coming ceramic markets:

29-30/06 Ceramic days in Delft

14-15/07 Ceramic market in Siegburg

3-4/08 International Ceramic Days in Oldenburg
